If you were born before 1994, you would probably never have known what you looked like as a baby, without printed photos. Secondly, and you really can’t deny this: But who doesn’t like to look at photos hanging on the wall? Isn’t that the first thing you do when you have a beautiful photo of your family, friends, baby or partner? You print that shit OUT.
Not because you’re vain, or want to look at your own face all day, but you see it as a symbol. Showing the world that this person (or these people) are WORTHY of having a place in your home. Obviously you reserve your Facebook albums for the people you hate. Because really, nobody ever felt honoured for being part of the “feeding chickens at the farm 2015” album.
We live in an interesting age where photos have very little “value”, but at the same time, we are bombarded by millions of images each day. How do we seperate our important, amazing, beautiful photos from the rest of the media overload? That’s right, we print those fuckers.
Admit it, in the back of your mind you’re already thinking of where to hang your favorite photo. Something to represent your CRAZY, MESSY, BEAUTIFUL LIFE.
READ ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE HERE:
In 2014 my family came to visit me in The Netherlands. We’ve actually never done a photoshoot as a family before, and I decided to book one of my favorite photographers (now awesome friend) to take some photos of us. The shoot turned out exactly how we wanted and we loved the photos and the whole experience!Read more
BUT… I now had a bunch of amazing and loving photos to share with… my computer!
Honestly, I was going to post the album on Facebook. Really truly. The only problem was, I felt as if I was doing these beautiful, emotional moments an injustice. It just didn’t feel right. Next, I told myself that I will make a big print of my favorite photo. Yes! That’s it. Big. Print. Big in my hallway so that anyone who walks in the door would see me and my family being all cool-like. Only that didn’t happen either. Not because I didn’t want to, but life happened and before I knew it, two years have gone by and my wall is still blank.
It’s a shame really. A damn shame.
How could I have avoided this whole situation? Well, I could’ve gone for another photographer who offers a big print right off the bat. But since there aren’t many who offer this service, my choice was limited (and I really, really wanted my friend to photograph us, because thruthfully, there’s no one like her!). I could have asked her to make a print for me. Which she would have done, because she’s awesome, obviously, but that meant more time and I might have ended up with something I didn’t like. Also, I would’ve asked something of my photographer that might not fit in her style at all.
Which brings me to my next point: Why on earth would I, as a photographer, give my clients…AIR?
It’s common knowledge that your walls will look better with you on them!
What’s makes my prints so damn awesome?
Obviously this section of the page needs a cool list. So here goes:
– Professionally printed by my secret printing maestro.
– UV protected (so they won’t fade)
– You get to choose your favorite photo from the shoot (to maximize the warm and shmushy feeling evey time you look at it)
– I will help you to choose the perfect format for your home. And if you don’t like it, you can send it back within 14 days!
– But you won’t
– Unlike cheap grocery store prints, the colors on my prints are callibrated perfectly. Greens do not end up blue, and your face will remain normal (and not turn a psychadelic purple)
